Shangri Lot was formed on the idea that our piece of the planet should be a beautiful personal paradise.
As native Texans, we know how much times have changed. Blistering summers that challenge our hardiest native species, coupled with the mild Winters, punctuated by the occasional, brutal cold, ice, and snow events.
We are a local landscape design company, specializing in Xeriscape, Native and Adaptive gardens and landscapes.
Our approach to design, is based on each space. Inspiration is our drive.

There is no limit to what can be achieved using hardy Xeriscape selections. From classic cacti style beds, sunny butterfly gardens, to poolside flowering tropical beds, linear and modern to flowing and wild, we can create any feel.
Every property is unique. There are no cookie cutter designs. Outdoor design is an extension of your home. Your space should draw people from the outside, in, and people from the inside, out, with a connection between the two. Your outdoor spaces should be given the same attention to details you would consider with interior design.
We include artistic and functional elements, to bring your personality into the landscape. Disappearing fountains, large container boxes and planters, art work, fire pits, trellis walls, lighting and more.
Hardscape:
The layout and hardscape should look amazing, before a single plant is installed. We work closely with our clients, in choosing the elements that will be the permanent parts of the landscape. Pathways, colors in the ground materials, mulch, rock and stone options, structures, border, and all other elements of the hardscape.
Soil:
Good soil is critical, and the foundation of a successful landscape! No pun intended.
Your soil is as much a living organism, as the plants it supports.
We use select soil blends, ideal for the bed, and setting, based on science, good practices, and past successes, in many conditions.
Healthy soil promotes water retention, disease control, and strong root growth, crucial to a sustainable Xeriscape and healthy plants.
Landscape/Plants:
Plant selection and setting, are where we really make a difference.
We are professional gardeners.
Xeriscape beds can be minimal or lush, independent of the setting.
In choosing plants, shrubs, and trees for our designs, we take into consideration the setting:
Soil, shade and sun patterns, surrounding plant life, wild life, wind exposure, water needs, height, function, essentially all elements that will affect the success of the plants themselves. With this approach, we are able to choose from many varieties, and able to create any look.
Xeriscape gardens can be much more than traditional rocks and cacti. Although we love that style too! The options are your imagination.
We work closely with our clients on all aspects of the design and installation. Our goal is to create your paradise, amongst gardens, that will last.
